The Groovy Movie Picture House is no ordinary cinema, it is the World's First Mobile Solar Powered Cinema! And the films they screen are just as different.   On Friday and Saturday afternoons we present some of the most powerful and provocative documentaries of 2009-2010 - Dirty Oil, Burma VJ and Yes Men Fix the World.   Our late night shows from midnight mix award winning shorts with live cabaret, music and comedy, blurring the line between cinema and party. Much more fun than the multiplex! . Wednesday 23rd June from 10pm A Free Range Cinematic Cabaret Spectacular. A sneak preview into the world of the Groovy Movie Picture house. With Hattie Hatstar live at 11.30pm Thursday 24th June from 10pm 10pm - Sita Sings the Blues - A musical animated masterpiece by Nina Paley. Sita is a goddess separated from her beloved Lord and husband Rama. Nina is an animator whose husband moves to India, then dumps her by email. Three hilarious shadow puppets narrate both ancient tragedy and modern comedy in this beautifully animated interpretation of the Indian epic Ramayana. Set to the 1920's jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw, Sita Sings the Blues earns its tagline as "the Greatest Break-Up Story Ever Told."

11.30am - Underground Animation. Unusual and amazing animations by new and established artists from around the world. 1.30pm - Hattie Hatstar  Live Twisted,  touching, edgy, political and funny, Hattie has been entertaining the world  with her unique one woman show for the past thirteen years. An act that is impossible to pigeon hole, the show features one beautiful lady, an accordion, a ukulele and a collection of original comedy songs. 2.30pm - Video jamm with Solar Cinema Selectors and guest VJs. Cinema… You can dance to till way after bedtime! Friday 25th June   Tipping Point Film Fund and Good with Film, funded by the Cooperative, present some of the most powerful and provocative documentaries of 2009-2010.

2pm Dirty Oil Canada's vast and toxic oil sands supply the U.S. with the majority of its oil. Told through the eyes of scientists, "big oil" officials, politicians, doctors, environmentalists, and aboriginal citizens directly effected by "the largest industrial project on the planet today", the filmmakers journey to both sides of the border to uncover the emotional and irreversible toll this "black gold rush" is taking on our planet. 4pm - Yes Men Fix the World True story about two gonzo political activists who, posing as top executives of giant corporations, lie their way into big business conferences and pull off the world's most outrageous pranks. From New Orleans to India to New York City, armed with little more than cheap thrift-store suits, the Yes Men squeeze raucous comedy out of all the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet. Who knew fixing the world could be so much fun? Friday night from Midnight...Midnight - Mark Thomas - Serious Organised Criminal. A film by Comedian, presenter, political activist and broadcaster Mark Thomas. In this film he tells the story of his World Record for organising 2,500 protests in one day, and how it changed the law. 1.30am - Cosmo Live Cosmo has a unique style that brings together punk, folk, hip-hop, human beatboxing, bluegrass and cowpunk. Throw in a bit of stand-up comedy, tragedy and mayhem and you've got it. Somehow, it all works. Last year's tour featured a live version of his tune F@ck the BNP being sung by the audience and recorded on Nick Griffin's answerphone, 2.30pm - Video Jamm with Solar Cinema Selectors and guest VJs.

Saturday 26th June Tipping Point Film Fund and Good with Film, funded by the cooperative, present some of the most powerful and provocative documentaries of 2009-2010. 2pm - Yes Men Fix the World True story about two gonzo political activists who, posing as top conferences and pull off the world's most outrageous pranks. From New Orleans to India to New York City, armed with little more than cheap thrift-store suits, the Yes Men squeeze raucous comedy out of all the ways that corporate greed is destroying the planet. Who knew fixing the world could be so much fun? 4pm - Burma VJ Armed with video cameras a tenacious band of Burmese reporters face down death to expose the repressive regime controlling their country. The film offers a unique insight into high-risk journalism and dissidence in a police state, while at the same time providing a thorough documentation of the historical and dramatic days of September 2007,when the Buddhist monks started marching Saturday From Midnight Midnight - Bluescreen Short film festival Bluescreen has been successfully running short film nights at the Cube Cinema, Bristol for over 9 years, and are here to present a compilation of the best of the bunch.
