Friday

2pm: Three miles north of Molkom.

Hidden deep in the lakeside forests of Sweden, lies Angsbacka; a 21st Century playground for adults. Once a year, their gates open to a thousand international participants, placed in ‘Sharing Groups’ at random. A Swedish celebrity, a Californian hippy,  a Finnish grandmother and a back-packing Australian rugby coach, who stumbled on the wrong party, are amongst the group that take us on an

unforgettably quirky, two-week emotional roller-coaster. Will they ever be the same again?

after an amazing run at the Gothenburg International Film Festival, Three Miles North of Molkom picked up the Audience Award for best feature  (out of 450 dramas and documentaries screened).

Midnight:. Undercurrents. Pioneers of  Underground media, Undercurrents, screen news, views, opinions, satire and positive propoganda. News you wont see on the news.

1am. Junk TV. The best of the last ten years of JunkTV’s short film nights.

2am. Iconcious. Wild and whacky selection of comedies, music, video

remixes and cheeky bootlegs from Iconcious

3am: Heima - Sigur Ros

Last year, in the endless magic hour of the Icelandic summer, Sigur Rós played a series of concerts around their homeland. Combining both the biggest

and smallest shows of their career, the entire tour was filmed, and now provides a unique insight into one of the world’s shyest and least understood

bands captured live in their natural habitat. www.heima.co.uk

comedies, music video, classic dance routines, Video remixes, satire,

sillyness, and regular live comedy interventions from acclaimed songwriter and

accordianist, Hattie Hatstar. Interactive cinema at it's best.

3am. Black Cat White Cat

- A riotous mix of farce, romance and crime. Set within a community of gypsy people, it tells a story of dodgy deals,

family ties, young love and magical occurences. Zare is in love with beautiful Ida but his crooked father Matko, having botched up a black market deal,

intends to marry him off to the sister of a powerful gangster - a woman so tiny that her nickname is Ladybird. Beautifully filmed on the banks of the

Danube this colourful comedy is crammed with spectacle, incident and the powerful music of Emir Kusturica's famous travelling gypsy band. Thanks to

Artificial Eye for permission to screen this film (www.artificial-eye.com)

Sunday – Activist Cinema from way Underground

  10pm. SOCPA - the movie .

The serious organised crime and police act 2005, was designed to rid parliament square of veteran peace activist Brian Haw. He's still there, and many others have fought the law in imaginative and sometimes comic ways. this hour-long documentary shows the enormous creativity and tenacity of Brian and other campaigners appalled at the idea that we have to ask for permission to protest near parliament.

Featuring an original music soundtrack and contributions from all the main players who have challenged this law, this film is at times frightening, funny, shocking and deeply moving.

11pm On the verge.

This film gained notoriety when the Police began a campaign of pressuring cinemas and venue owners not to screen it. This misguided official censoring resulted in a huge wave of publicity, inspiring countless underground screenings

In 2004 a group of Brighton peace campaigners began to bang pot and pans outside their local arms manufacturers EDO MBM in disgust of their

part in the Iraq war. This has grown into a campaign, which has cost the company millions, and has tested the right to protest in the UK. Using activist, police and CCTV footage plus interviews with those involved in the campaign, On The Verge tells the story of one of the most persistent and imaginative campaigns to emerge out of the UK's anti-war movement.

Midnight. The Hattie Hatstar Show. Award winning accordionist, song writer and

comedian presents her multimedia show, with big screen video trickery,

and a wit as sharp as her tongue.

1am. Vjamm Allstars Video Jamm. Remixes, bootlegs, mashups, video shorts and comedies from one of the world’s top Audio/ Visual teams. Featuring contributions from all the Solar Cinema video selectors, and some very special guests.

Here is some information about the groovy Movie Picture House Solar
Cinema and the Green Screen Carbon Neutral Film Festival which we
will be curating in the Green Fututres field this year at Glastonbury
Festival. I hope it is of use. If you require any more information,
do not hesitate to contact me.
Jerry - Groovy Movie Picture House - Solar Cinema

For the past ten years we have been running the Solar Cinema - The
Groovy Movie Picture House. This is the World's First Mobile Solar
Powered Cinema.
We began the project as a reaction to the complete lack of provision
for screening independent and underground film at arts festivals.
Over the years we have built the venue into a fully featured, high quality
mobile cinema, which tours a wide range of outdoor events around the
UK and Europe. We are dedicated to promoting the work of film makers
at all levels, and have inspired many potential filmmakers to have a
go. Our cinema is quirky, cosy, comfortable, informal, intimate and
friendly. We provide the ideal space to road test films in front of a
receptive festival audience - including many who would not
necessarily attend film festivals.
We all have a background in environmental activism, and the cinema is
partly a continuation of this. From the beginning we have been 100%
Solar Powered, generating all our electrical need with a large bank
of solar panels. This, we hope provides a clear message to our audiences
that Solar electricity is a viable option. Big, bright, exciting
things can be achieved with small amounts of power and a little
thought. By coincidence we have also discovered that solar energy is
the ideal power source for a mobile cinema, giving us the freedom to
set up anywhere, without the distraction of a noisy generator.
The Groovy Movie Picture House operates within a beautiful custom
built, blackout marquee, so we can screen in the day or at night. We
can comfortably accommodate up to 200 people - or squeeze in 250+
when we have a party. During the day our panels charge a large battery
bank, which provides up to 20 hours worth of reserve power for use at
night or in bad weather. All of our equipment has been chosen for
energy efficiency, without compromising quality at any level.
The Solar Cinema operates as a low profit project. We have always
been reluctant to accept corporate sponsorship. We rely on booking fees
from events, and the occasional grant or donation to cover our
running costs and wages. Our integrity has won us many friends over the
years, and many conscientious film makers from around the world support us
by allowing their work to be screened in our unique venue, for which we
are very grateful.
